To provide participants with a basic understanding of ethical decision making in medical practice, their significance, and the impact they have on patient care and provider well-being.


By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

-Recognize the ethical principles and frameworks that guide ethical decision-making.
-Reflect on personal experiences and insights related to medical ethical concerns.
-Identify common ethical concerns faced by primary healthcare providers and recipients.
-Analyse case studies to understand the application of ethical decision-making frameworks


I. Introduction (15 minutes)
- Welcome and introduction of the workshop facilitators
- Brief overview of the importance of ethics in medical practice
- Setting expectations for the workshop

II. Understanding Ethical concerns (30 minutes)
- Defining ethical concerns and their significance in healthcare
- Identifying common ethical concerns faced by primary healthcare providers
III. Ethical Decision-Making Framework (45 minutes)
- Introducing a structured approach to ethical decision-making
- Presenting relevant ethical principles and frameworks (e.g., autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, justice)
- Exploring case studies to illustrate the application of the decision-making framework

V. Case-Based Discussions (60 minutes)
- Split participants into smaller groups (7-8 participants per group)
- Distribute case scenarios involving ethical dilemmas in primary healthcare
- Facilitate group discussions on the ethical dilemmas, exploring different perspectives, and possible resolutions
- Encourage participants to share personal experiences and insights

VI. Wrap-Up and Q&A (20 minutes)
- Summarizing the key points covered in each group
through the focus group moderators.
- Addressing participants' questions and concerns
