Dr. Maria-Carmen Adamuz

Dr. Maria-Carmen Adamuz, (MD, PhD) is a Spanish Cardiologist with extensive experience in Clinical Cardiology, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Sports Cardiology. She studied and doctorated at the University of Cordoba, completing the Cardiology specialization at the Reina Sofia Hospital (Córdoba) in 2002. She has worked as Cardiologist for the Andalusian Public Health System (SSPA), being appointed Director of the Andalusian Center for Sports Medicine (Sevilla 2004-2007), where she worked with athletes and implemented a project in Exercise Prescription for public that was awarded by the Andalusian Health Minister in 2007. In 2010 she become Chair of Cardiology at the Complejo Hospitalario de Jaen and has been Honorary Professor at the Universities of Cordoba and Cadiz. Since she joined Aspetar in 2013 she focusses in the cardiovascular care of athletes. Her main expertise lays in the cardiac screening, diagnosis and management of cardiovascular conditions affecting athletes with focus on prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death in Sports and Cardiac Rehabilitation. She has been CMO in several international top-level competitions and is enthusiastic about the benefits of exercise in cardiovascular prevention and the exercise prescription for health and longevity.
